 THE NEW JERSEY STATE TEEN ARTS FESTIVAL

SCHOOL CHECK-IN

TIME: 8AM – 1:30 PM

LOCATION: Entrance Lobby -  Jay& Linda Grunin Center for the Arts (11)

CAPACITY: (2) School Leaders Only

·         Due to the large number of students attending the festival we ask students wait outside of the building while (2) School Leaders MAXIMUM check-in at the School Check-In area in the Grunin Center Lobby.*

·         Students who are performing or viewing in the Musical Theatre Category are permitted to enter.

·         Students taking the workshops within the building are also permitted.

FESTIVAL LOCATION & DIRECTIONS

The New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival takes place at Ocean County College located at1 College Drive, Toms River, NJ.  Please review the attached maps & directions to best prepare for your trip to the Festival.

PARKING LOT #2

            Buses will pick up and drop off at Parking #2. Following the NJ State Teen Arts Signs when driving on to campus, they should help lead you to the Grunin Center for the Arts (11-12)

            *The Gateway (101) building is a 10-15 minute walk from Parking Lot #2. If you have a large or small vocal group scheduled early in the morning for adjudication you may wish to drop the students off in Parking lot # 6 which is closer to the Gateway (101) building that houses the Small & Large Vocal Adjudications. If this choice is made a School Leader still must visit and sign-in at the School Check-In area in the Grunin Center (11) Building*

 Rules & Guidelines

1. Teachers & Chaperones must supervise their students at all times and are responsible for their conduct at the Festival. Ocean County College (OCC) reserves the right to remove individuals who create problems, which may result in removing students or an entire school from campus.

2. Please, be aware that OCC is in summer session and there may be summer classes going on in buildings where there are performances and workshops. Please be respectful of the classes in session and refrain from being disruptive in any way while on campus.

3. New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival personnel are located throughout the campus to assist you. They are wearing shirts with the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival logo. Please let them know if you need assistance at any point throughout the day.

4. Food and drinks are available at the Jon & Judith Larson Student Center (Building #8).

5. All bus arrivals and departures from campus will be made in front of the Jay & Linda Grunin Center for the Arts (Building # 11-12). Please ensure all students know what time you are departing from campus and have them gather 15 minutes before your departure time.

 

Promotional Film Footage & Photography

            On Friday, June 2nd a videographer will be present at the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival to capture film footage and photographs of the event for future promotional purposes. If any individual would prefer not to be filmed or interviewed they should respectfully let the videographer know. The videographer will take note to keep those those individualsout of frame.

            There will be souvenir New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival T-Shirts on Sale for $10.00. Please notify students.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS & CREDITS

            1 Credit: Teachers for attending the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival can earn (1) professional development credit.

* To receive the (1) credit Teachers must sign-in and register their, name, phone number, and at the School Check-In Area in the Grunin Center for the Arts (11) *

            There are 10+ workshops offered daily for the duration of the festival. Each workshop has it own specific capacity. All workshops are first come first served. There is no pre-registering for workshops. Please plan your day accordingly. Some workshops are available for only (1) day.

Adjudications for Visual Arts, Filmmaking, Prose & Poetry:

There are no specially allotted times in the adjudication schedule for the visual arts, filmmaking, prose and/or poetry art forms. If students who wish to receive critiques both verbal & written they must do so on their own time during the day of attendance of the festival must do so by check-in with an Adjudication Artist for the specific art form. Students are not guarantee a written critique. Only students who meet directly with an Adjudication Artist will receive a written critique form at the end of their personal adjudication.

*Filmmaking, Prose & Poetry Nominated Students should bring a hard copy to Festival *
